Monday Musings

Happy Monday- I know you're all groaning and sighing and thinking, "Who is SO merry on a Monday?".

Well, as I write this, it's Sunday evening, and I'm in a blissfully relaxed mood. I will be grumbling just like all of you by tomorrow morning. So, I don't have any race plans for the foreseeable future. Why is that? I don't know. I've been too cheap to register for any races, too disinterested in 5ks which are the only "close" races, and too lazy to think about doing a half marathon or marathon any time soon. So where does that leave me? Just running and maintaining fitness. I AM trying to participate in Nicole's Runcember, but that is about it.

What else, you ask? It is now December, a month I truly love. I have the radio station set to the one that plays Christmas music all the time, and although I haven't been motivated enough to put up any holiday decorations, I did make myself a Christmas stocking. My family in Montana celebrates Christmas three times in two days. It's intense and joyous.

I've mentioned my career goals on this blog several times. I received an invitation to interview in January at one of the Physician Assistant Schools I applied to. Thoughts, prayers, and karma for that will be much appreciated.

Finally, I had a super relaxing weekend with no big plans. I ran both days, read some books, and made a big pot of minestrone for lunches/dinner for the week. It was my first time making minestrone, and as often as I make things, it was my first time working with fennel. It was weird. Unfamiliar vegetables scare me. The soup turned out alright but could use some improvement. I'm going to look around at some other minestrone recipes and see what can be fixed for next time. There is a restaurant called Borrie's in my hometown of Great Falls, MT that makes the most amazing minestrone. My family has been known to pick up a tub of their soup to-go every once in a while. Sadly, my soup is nowhere near resembling Borrie's minestrone.

Questions:
What to wear to my interview (suit obviously, but beyond that?...)?
What did you wear to your most successful interview?
Do you have a good minestrone recipe? Or a good vegetable soup recipe?

  2. Good luck on your interview! I think color is a good idea, maybe a bright necklace or scarf?

I still have my "interview shoes" that I wore when I got my first real job. They are in pretty bad shape, so I can't actually wear them anymore.

  3. Congrats on the interview invite. I'm sure you will do well.

Wear a big smile! A happy, confident and high energy persona always looks good in an interview.

  4. Good luck on your interview. I do like the idea of not wearing a black suit just so you stand out. I was talking to an OB physician the other day and she said when she had residency interviews she wore an olive green suit when everyone else had black. She said that she got compliments with her choice and was told that they easily remembered her because of what she was wearing. :-)

  6. Interview outfit always depends on the job, but I personally always wear a nice suit with a nice shirt. Professional but not too dressy. Good luck!

  7. For interviews, I like to wear suits with skirts and cute shoes. If the suit is black, I wear a colorful scarf to draw attention to my face. I have a few vintagey suits that I love! :)

    Good luck at the interview!
